The Norman Vilalta Velazquez Boot Finally Joins the 1202 Heritage Line
For years, I’ve admired the Norman Vilalta Velazquez boot—a truly unique take on the classic Jodhpur. At the same time, I’ve been nudging Norman, a good friend and incredibly talented shoemaker, to add this striking model to his RTW (Ready-to-Wear) collection. Of course, that was easier said than done. An intricate wrap-around strap like this isn’t easy to design or execute in a factory setting, which I suspect is why Norman held off for so long.
With the recent launch of his 1202 Heritage line, it finally made sense. This line offers the craftsmanship of bespoke but with a ready-to-wear fit, allowing more people to experience Norman’s highest-level work without needing to travel to Barcelona or meet him on one of his global tours.
The only catch? The Velazquez boot is now part of an MTO (Made-to-Order) offering. That’s because only a handful of makers under Norman’s wing are qualified to build this boot to spec. Production capacity is limited, and once the order window closes, that’s it—at least for now.
So if, like me, you’ve been eyeing the Velazquez for some time, don’t wait. This is a rare opportunity to secure a truly special piece of footwear.
