Today is all about the trusted shirt dress. I bought this dress a few weeks back for a trip and sadly never posted it! It has been a great throw on and go piece and I love layering this vest over it. It got me thinking about what shirt dresses I love out in the market right now and what are some fun ways to spruce up a shirt dress. Let’s dive into a few tips and tricks below!
HOW TO STYLE A SHIRT DRESS
BELT IT BABY // Shirt dresses are typically the perfect candidate for being belted. I also love to swap out a self belt with a more elevated leather belt to give a dress a whole new look and feel. When it comes to a classic belt this one is my favorite. With western wear continuing to trend I would also check out this belt and this belt as a great styling option. Another fun fashion option would be a wide, fem belt like this one.
VESTED INTEREST // Adding a vest is always a good idea. I love how the cinched vest I added above gave a little more shape to my straight line shirt dress and added a lot of interest. I have been eyeing this vest that would look stunning over a poplin shirtdress. Or imagine how chic this sweater vest would look layered over this shirtdress?
FALL FORWARD // One of the things I love about most shirt dress silhouettes are they can be restyled for cooler temps. Here is a great example of adding a turtleneck, scarf, belt, blazer and boots to turn the Chloe dress into a fall staple. This wool blend scarf would a great example of an accessory to winterize your shirt dress look, without making it appear to ‘heavy’.
