Tricker’s x Wildsmith: Stow Boot Unboxing

The new Tricker’s x Wildsmith collaboration is in full effect, and we are kicking off the awareness by looking at their collaborative ‘Stow’ boot. Tricker’s Stow boot is one of their more iconic models and the one that carries the brand in this unsettling world of athletic sneakers and high fashion.

Who is Wildsmith?

Wildsmith is one of London’s most legendary shoemakers from days gone by. Founded in 1847, the brand quickly carved out a name for itself as a top-tier label in the city. They caught the eye of the Royal Household, supplying them with high-quality hunting and fishing boots while also catering to the stylish “Beau Monde” set and the big-name celebrities of the era.

By the 1960s, Wildsmith’s fame had gone international—rumor has it even JFK was a fan of their shoes. Their Model 98, a timeless penny loafer, was a trailblazer, shaping the loafers we still wear today. Many of their designs followed suit, seamlessly blending Victorian flair with the modern dress shoes that influence current trends. They’ve played a real part in shaping footwear as we know it.

I’m not entirely sure when or why things shifted, but sometime before 2000, Wildsmith’s star began to fade. There were a few attempts to revive the brand over the years, though none really took off—until now. It seems this iconic name might finally be poised for a comeback.

Tricker’s x Wildsmith

This new collaboration has taken some of Tricker’s most iconic models, giving them the Wildsmith twist with their signature diamond punching and adding a Vibram lite sole. The video focuses on Tricker’s Stow boot in their signature color, Acorn Antique. This is easily one of England’s most famous boots. The Vibram lite sole offers a nice lightweight option to an otherwise heavy boot. Wildsmith’s diamond punching gives a detailing uniquely theirs.

The Boots

The Tricker’s x Wildsmith ‘Stow’ boots are comfortable, lightweight and perfect for today’s world of ‘dress casual’ attire. The size is true to fit. They did not have my typical UK6.5 size, but the UK7 fit as a UK7 would for a shoe that fits me perfect in UK6.5. That might sound strange, but when you have tried as many shoes as I have, you start to know proper fit even around your size.

The leather had an interesting feel. It was soft to the touch yet firm/stiff in shape. I presume it would be good for hard wearing. But it felt refinished. Frankly, I am not bothered by the idea of refinished leather in boots. Overly fine calfskin does not correlate to ‘hard wearing’ that one needs for country style boots.

They are priced at $675 on the Wildsmith site but have a very limited run. So grab your pair while you can!
