The nearly two-year gap between the Adidas Anthony Edwards 1, formerly known as the AE 1, and its successor is close to coming to an end. With an official announcement still to come, Adidas has been steadily ramping up the teasers for the highly anticipated sneakers, and a leak is now showing the model in what will likely be its first three colorways.
The Adidas Anthony Edwards 2 “With Love,” “Fusion Blue” and “Lucid Red” will carry the signature sneaker for its first two months on the market. Just like on Edwards’ first sneaker, the moniker “With Love” will launch the silhouette with a black, pink and peach treatment, invoking the player’s home state of Georgia.
Up next with the same black base will be “Fusion Blue,” which switches the remaining territory to a mix of blue and green reminiscent of the Minnesota Timberwolves’ original uniforms. Then will come “Core Black” edition, which sees black take over even more of the sneaker with a white sole unit carrying up its upper and red branding.
Until Adidas begins discussing the Anthony Edwards 2 in full, the tech details won’t be known. What is plain to see is that the horn-shaped overlay on the upper will serve as containment, much like the honeycomb-shaped panel on the Anthony Edwards 1 but without the need for holes for breathability. And at $130 rather than the $110 of the first shoe, the sequel may feature an upgrade in cushioning from Jet Boost.
The Anthony Edwards 1 “With Love” will release Oct. 1, followed by “Fusion Blue” Oct. 25 and “Core Black” some time in November. Expect stock to go through Adidas’ website and select third-party retailers.
