Statement platforms, gladiator sandals and imaginative pumps dominated the 2026 Met Gala red carpet on Monday night in New York.
Sabrina Carpenter, Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian, Doja Cat, Cardi B and more opted for the oversized platform silhouette from brands like Christian Louboutin, Amina Muaddi and Marc Jacobs.
Sabrina Carpenter was a Met Gala standout as the “Espresso” singer donned a pair of Christian Louboutin Dolly Alta heels that she paired with a Dior tulle slit dress that featured an appliqué of rhinestone film strips from the film “Sabrina.”

Tyla commanded attention in a Valentino look exclusively created for her by creative director Alessandro Michele. Along with her Valentino Garavani Révélé pumps, the “Water” singer wore an embroidered dress from the Italian luxury house that was composed of a long satin skirt with deep slit and ornamental basque on the waist embroidered with silver rhinestones as well as a tulle top with long sleeves and deep V neckline with all over fringes and silver sequin embroidery.

Serena Williams stepped out in a head-to-toe Marc Jacobs look, including a custom silver lamé draped gown adorned with gold leaf accents. The tennis pro completed the look in a pair of 110mm gold Italian leather wraparound sandals that featured handmade leather leaf appliqués by Jacobs.

Anna Weyant also wore a full Marc Jacobs look to the Met. The painter chose a pink lace-trim organza slip dress from the designer along with a pair of bordeaux satin bow chisel pumps – both from Jacobs’ spring 2025 runway collection.

“I Love LA” actress Rachel Sennott was also a Marc Jacobs muse at the gala. For the big night, she chose a v-neck jersey gown featuring color-blocked circle detailing that was paired with the D’Orsay peep toe pump in complementary colors and a headpiece by Stephen Jones. Jacobs noted that the look was inspired American conceptual artist John Baldessari.

Lena Dunham sported a look exclusively created for her by Valentino creative director Alessandro Michele. Along with the iconic Valentino Garavani Rockstud shoes, Dunham wore a dramatic asymmetrical dress, crafted in red silk georgette with a bare back that features all-over embroidery of red sequins and stones.

Doja Cat wore Saint Laurent in glossy silicone from her dress down to her shoes. Her look was completed by the brand’s platform Kika mules that were hand-painted by a special effects artist to match her skin. Her silicone dress by creative director Anthony Vaccarello, meanwhile, featured folds and a high slit.

The 2026 Met Gala took place on Monday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This year’s exhibition, “Costume Art,” celebrated fashion as an art form, with a dress code of “Fashion Is Art.” The event was co-chaired by Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour, with Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos serving as honorary chairs. The annual benefit raises funds for the Met’s Costume Institute.
