Did Miu Miu Just Release Its Next Hit Sneaker?

After being reintroduced on the fall 2026 runway, Miu Miu‘s Bubble shoe is officially back. Can it become the brand’s next big sneaker on the heels of its successful collaboration with New Balance?

Harkening back to a sportswear-inspired era, the Bubble shoe is a reinterpretation of an archival model first created in the early 2000s. The soft and deconstructed style features a refined upper made from leather and suede with light padding to bring both opulence and comfort. The style is completed with the Miu Miu signature and ribbed, technical cotton laces featuring tips dipped in contrast-color varnish. A special version, which debuted on the Paris runway in March, is made with technical nylon embellished with precious jeweled embroideries.

The silhouette’s defining Bubble sole was updated for the modern day, lightened with innovative technology and positioned within a more layered context. The design features fluid lines and a conversation between transparency and covered effects, allowing for movement and nuance.

An official description from Miu Miu reads, “The Bubble shoe represents the perfect balance between form and function, between sophistication and ease. Experimental but always with the needs of the lives of the women who wear it in mind, the Bubble shoe is eclectic, irreverent and contemporary. Representing the contrasts at Miu Miu’s heart, it springs from the minimalist mindset of the brand in its nascency but is executed and embellished with a precision firmly rooted in the here and now.”

Priced at $1,170 for the non-embellished technical fabric and suede version, colorways include Dark Brown and Cloudy Gray, both available now. The crystal and sequin-embellished version costs $2,300 and is available in Dark Brown and Ivory colorways, with a Burgundy labeled as “available soon” on the Miu Miu website.

Joelle Diderich wrote in a WWD review of the fall 2026 Miu Miu show, in which the Bubble shoes were featured: “If the minimal clothing felt like a ’90s revival — more than timely, considering Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s Prada coat just sold for $192,000 at auction — the accessories spoke to Gen Z’s desire to stand out, with embellished chapkas, crystallized belts and bedazzled sneakers and pool slides.”

The Bubble sole aesthetic wasn’t only applied to sneakers on the runway, but also to skin-tight knee-high boots and mule clogs.

If the Bubble shoe resonates with consumers — and it seems to already be flying off the shelves with several sizes across both versions already sold out — Miu Miu could be on a winning streak in the sneaker department following its ongoing partnership with New Balance. The Miu Miu x New Balance 530 SL, a popular silhouette from the collaboration, was recently updated in new colors and materials ahead of summer. The tie-up between the the athletic brand and the Prada subsidiary won Collaboration of the Year at the 2025 Achievement Awards.
