Allen Iverson’s First Reebok Shoe Becomes a 3D-printed Slip-On

Allen Iverson‘s first signature sneaker released 30 years ago, and Reebok and Zellerfeld are bridging the gap between the two eras by creating a 3D-printed slip-on inspired by the iconic shoe.

The Reebok Question 96/26 is printed as a single piece with many of the defining elements of the original Question replicated in the texture. On the sidewalls you find tri-oval shapes highlighting where Hexalite cushioning cells appeared three decades ago with the same honeycomb print sitting inside. Reebok’s Vector logo takes the same places on the tongue and lateral side of the upper’s midfoot, although the “Q” mark has been forgone on the heel.

Even the outsole pattern is much the same, including the concavity at the heel, but in the spirit establishing a new identity, the shapes around the collar and above the toe are entirely fresh. Two colorways will be offered at launch: Lilac and Stone white.

The full silhouette is made out of Zellerfeld’s proprietary Zellerfoam, which is made from TPU and fully recyclable, with different densities tailored to support or more flexibility. Many other brands in the footwear industry have turned to Zellerfeld for its expertise in 3D printing, including Nike with its Air Max 1000 and Air Max 95000 beginning to release with more regularity.

Iverson got his first signature sneaker during his rookie season in the NBA, and all but two of his following signature sneakers came under the moniker Answer before he played his final NBA game in 2010. Amid the 13 Answers, the Question 2 and Question 3 jumped in in 2004 and 2007, respectively.

The Reebok Question 96/26 will release Aug. 25 exclusively through Zellerfeld’s website. Pricing is set at $169, and shipping is expected in three to four weeks.
