The Crockett & Jones A/W 2025 collection has just launched, and it’s clear they’re not content with simply being known for some of the finest oxfords and loafers England produces. This season, they’ve doubled down on winter-ready footwear, launching new leathers, innovative suedes, and nearly packed an entire collection with commando soles.
I’ve said it before — Crockett & Jones know how to build shoes that last. And now they’re leaning further into technical development, combining English craftsmanship with materials that can actually handle the elements. Let’s take a look at what they’ve put forward this season.

The Alps as Inspiration
For this year’s campaign, Crockett & Jones headed to the Alps — the perfect backdrop to test new leathers against snow, streams, and mountain terrain. Surrounded by chalets and snow-capped peaks, their new “Waterproof Side” leather faced alpine conditions head-on. The results? Boots that shrug off water and still look elegant doing so.

Ultimate Winter Boots: Origins of Tradition
Leading the Crockett & Jones A/W 2025 collection are two heavy hitters for C&J enthusiasts: Islay and Grizedale, now crafted in a newly developed Dark Brown Waterproof Side leather. Produced with Horween, out of Chicago, after years of back-and-forth, this leather is flexible, comfortable, and impressively resistant. A smart collaboration and a perfect harmonization of rugged elegance met with Winter practicality. Most importantly, they are super lightweight!

Pair that with a cleated commando rubber sole, waterproof membrane, bellows tongue, and reverse storm welt, and you’ve got two of the most robust winter boots Crockett & Jones has ever made. In short: these aren’t just country boots — they’re alpine-ready.

The Winter Loafer: Not for Loafing Around
Yes, you read that right: a loafer designed for winter. Using the ever-popular Boston 2 as the base, Crockett & Jones built it in Rough-Out suede (Dark Brown and Green) and finished it with a lightweight Vibram sole and reverse storm welt. The green version is particularly intriguing!

Rough-Out suede is wax-impregnated, hard-wearing, and develops a unique character with wear. It laughs at bad weather and shrugs off rain with minimal care. A loafer you can wear in the depths of winter? It makes sense to me. Loafers are becoming ever more popular, and people are wearing them in the colder months. And the rough-out suede? A truly bulletproof material!

Lightweight Winter Suede Collection
For those who want something softer underfoot, Crockett & Jones also introduces a range of lightweight suede shoes. Each pair features water-resistant suede, storm welts, and its lightest cleated sole to date.

The line includes:
- Windermere – a plain-front Derby
- Chepstow 2 – a 3-eyelet Chukka
- Elgin – a low-cut Chelsea boot
It’s good to see English shoemakers giving attention to comfort, flexibility, and weight — areas historically overlooked, but crucial today. English shoemakers, historically speaking, were more known for heavy, stiff ,and overly robust footwear. Not anymore!

Winter Grain: New Hatch Rough-Out & Classic Tan Scotch Grain
Another highlight is a new development: The New Hatch Grain Rough-Out suede. This is a wax-impregnated suede embossed with the classic hatch grain pattern — the first of its kind. It combines rugged durability with visual depth.

New styles include:
- Galway 3 – a casual Derby boot with hand-pulled apron, set on a modern Commando sole.
- Islay – now available in Tan Scotch Grain, a leather that has been part of C&J’s lineup for four decades and remains as strong as ever.

Final Thoughts
Crockett & Jones has made it clear: they’re no longer just about fine city shoes. This A/W 2025 collection pushes boundaries with waterproof leathers, rough-out suedes, and soles built for snow and stone. The collection solidifies the fact that C&J now offers every man any smart shoe style they could be looking for, no matter the occasion!
Whether you’re after an alpine-proof boot, a suede Chelsea with modern comfort, or even a winter loafer, this lineup shows that traditional English shoemaking can still innovate.
