The SR39 is Gaziano & Girling’s new last. At first glance, one might mistake it for a Deco last, but when you examine it more carefully, you will see that it has a much more defined toe and side panel of the vamp/toe area. Its shape is far more aggressive than the Deco last, but for me, far more elegant too. I have always said, there are Italian chisel lasts, French chisel lasts and English chisel lasts. And the SR39 last is reminiscent of that super sharp French style. It reminds me of some older Dimitri Gomez and Anthony Delos bespoke shoes.

At the present moment, they have it represented on only one shoe: The Wilde, as shown. I am told, however, that at their current trunk show in NYC, there are two shoes showing Gaziano & Girling’s new last shape. I am actually on my way there in a few hours and will get some more coverage of the new SR39. If you are in NYC, too, and want to check it out, make sure to visit them today or tomorrow at the Loew’s Regency Hotel.
While I love G&G’s shoes, the TG73 has never been my favorite chisel last. The DG70 was always my favorite. But this new SR39 last is quite something and I really look forward to seeing what other models they put it on.
Gaziano & Girling’s new last, the SR39, is currently only available via MTO.
