With the Labubu frenzy reaching peak hype, the blind box collectible concept is resurfacing in sneakers with upcoming releases like Nike’s “Panda” Dunk pack. Also getting in on the excitement is a new three-way collaboration between sportswear brand Puma, entertainment company Marvel and streetwear brand Advisory Board Crystals.
Arriving right on time for the release of “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” the new comic book-inspired collaboration includes shoes tied to seven different Fantastic Four family characters: Doctor Doom, Galactus, Human Torch, Invisible Woman, Mister Fantastic, The Thing and Silver Surfer.
Thus far, the specs behind the sneakers are unknown and only the packaging has been revealed, although a blurred teaser image does hint at which models are featured for each respective character. Further previews shared by Advisory Board Crystals show close-ups of some of the shoes, but do not reveal a full look.

The idea is that the sneakers won’t be completely seen until pairs are delivered to buyers. Customers also won’t know which character they’re getting until opening the package. Along with the seven different characters, there are also four unique sleeve designs for each. Each character has its own level of rarity.
Known for its art-inspired clothing with embellishments ranging from holographic to literal crystals, Advisory Board Crystals was founded in 2015 by Remington Guest and Heather Haber. The brand has previously collaborated with footwear brands including Diemme, Merrell and Vans. The upcoming Puma project will be its first with the German athletic manufacturer.
“Blind box” (or “blind bag”) sneaker releases aren’t a new thing, but they have recently ramped up in popularity in the wake of the Labubu trend. Nike SB’s December 2024 “The Wizard of Oz” collaboration used a similar method, with a small number of pairs revealing a special-edition version of the sneaker.
