Matthieu Blazy’s first Chanel show welcomed many celebrities to a celestial-themed setting in Paris on Monday, including Nicole Kidman and her daughters, who coordinated for the occasion in black cap-toe shoes and denim pieces.

The cap-toe aesthetic, which Blazy reinterpreted for his collection, is a signature Chanel look. Coco Chanel and Parisian shoemaker Raymond Massaro are credited with creating the famous beige and black slingback pump, which was first introduced in 1957 and became a trademark of the house. But the look has been done in several color combinations over the years, and the black-on-black cap toe, which Kidman and her daughters opted for in different iterations, is an extremely subtle iteration of the two-toned aesthetic. Since it’s a monochrome look, the bifurcation is understated and material contrast plays an important role.

The cap-toe design is associated with pumps and ballet flats, and the latter style is what younger daughter Faith Margaret Kidman-Urban wore. Her classic shoes made a statement with a dainty bow and a patent black cap toe contrasting black leather. Her sister Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban also wore a rounded-toe shoe, which, while not entirely visible, looked to feature a more muted satin cap toe. Kidman, meanwhile, went the sharp pointed-toe route with a pair of black stiletto heels featuring the same material contrast as her daughter Faith Margaret’s shoes.

To accompany the monochrome shoes, all three went with minimalist outfits featuring light blue denim, with Kidman opting for a loose white button-down and jeans; Sunday Rose showcasing a red sweater vest and jeans, and Faith Margaret modeling a black dress and jean jacket.
As reported by WWD, Kidman has returned to serve as an ambassador for Chanel, more than 20 years after she appeared in an Baz Luhrmann-directed campaign for Chanel No.5.
