A Different Approach to the Fall Palette

Fall naturally brings a familiar palette with it, the kinds of deeper, earthier shades that immediately signal the season. I love those tones, but I also like seeing how much I can play with the idea of fall color by keeping pink, citron, lilac, and orange in the mix. For me, the shift is less about putting brighter pieces away and more about changing what surrounds them so they take on a completely different character.

A bright skirt can sit with a more fall-feeling fabric like jacquard and be grounded by a haircalf shoe, while a saturated knit works with denim and a suede loafer. Texture helps too, because velvet, leather, wool, and heavier knits give brighter shades more weight. These may not be the most obvious colors for fall, but when the pieces themselves feel like the season, they make complete sense.
