Adidas has upgraded the Handball Spezial with the toughest fiber known to man.

The Adidas Handball Spezial Dyneema comes in two colorways, utilizing the ultra-durable fiber that’s 15 times stronger than steel and light enough to float on water. Its applications include protective motorcycle gear, hockey neck guards that will prevent cuts from skates and even bulletproof vests. And now that it’s on a sneaker, you can rest assured it’ll last you for quite some time.

Available in tonal Hazy Copper and blue-ish gray colorways, the sneaker utilizes Dyneema fabric for its base with a crinkled texture. Near-matching overlays then arrive in more standard suede, while the Three Stripes likewise appear in a more traditional material through white leather. Both then feature translucent sole units, “Hazy Copper” taking on a brown tint and the other opting for no color at all.

Long adopted by soccer fans in the U.K., the Handball Spezial has been boosted by the terrace trend following the success of the Samba. The shoe was originally made in 1979 for the sport that gives it its name, and in 2014, it was incorporated into the Spezial line led by Gary Aspden and often leaning into soccer culture.

The Adidas Handball Dyneema is out now through Adidas’ website, and pricing is set at $120, just $10 higher than the model typically commands.
