Engineered Garments Updates Gola Match Sneaker in New Collaboration

Gola Classics and Engineered Garments are set to release a new footwear collaboration next month.

According to the footwear brand, it has teamed up with the Japanese menswear label to reinterpret its Match sneaker, which debuted from Gola in 1977. For this collaboration, Engineered Garments founder and designer Daiki Suzuki updated the shoe by removing the traditional laces of the sneaker and replacing it with a functional elastic panel.

What’s more, the silhouette utilizes both suede and cotton twill fabrications in the upper to feature an overlaid toe panel detail and a self-colored mesh lining to give it a throwback to the 1970s.

The updated Match sneaker is then finished with subtle Gola for Engineered Garments branding in the cushioned in-sock and tongue label, paired with Gola’s signature side wingflash in a sawtooth finish. They style will be available in four colorways: navy with gum, Sudan brown with gum, white with gum, and all black.

The Gola x Engineered Garments Match sneaker, which retails for $150, will be available exclusively at Nepenthes New York, Nepenthesny.com and Golausa.com beginning on Sept. 5.

This new collab from Engineered Garments comes just months after the label announced a separate shoe collection with men’s footwear brand Allen Edmonds.

For the initial style, Suzuki turned to his archive—specifically, the Allen Edmonds Sun Valley hiker boot, which he has had for over fifteen years—as a starting point for reinterpretation.

The result is the all-new Adirondack Low Hiker, which updates the original in three SKUs and features a Goodyear welt, EVA midsole, and matte black hardware, all anchored by the distinctive bold blue laces.

The Adirondack Low Hiker will launch for fall 2025, with a second style – the Bryant Park Double Monk – coming for holiday 2025.
