Jordan Brand has brought back the Air Jordan 4 in its original “Bred” colorway several times in recent years, reapplying “Nike Air” branding in 2019 for the first time in 30 years and giving it a new leather build in 2024. Yet another drop is coming soon, and this one will stand out with the most faithful execution of the sneaker’s proportions since 1989.
The Air Jordan 4 “Bred” is slated for release in November and has now been shown in retailer images for the first time. Back with its nubuck upper, the forthcoming edition carries subtle differences in its build, including a more rounded toe, higher collar and more defined panel edges. The quality of nubuck also appears to be superior, while “Nike Air” branding on the heel once again returns in place of the Jumpman used for a time on retros.
Michael Jordan‘s defining moment in the Air Jordan 4 “Bred” series-winning shot against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 1989 playoffs. After receiving the ball from an inbound pass with three seconds left in game 5, Jordan nailed the buzzer-beater while floating horizontally through the air near the free throw line. Just as famous as “The Shot” is the subsequent celebration with exuberant fist pumps.
Jordan Brand has been making an effort to offer more exacting recreations of Air Jordans, most prominently on the Air Jordan 1 “Bred” for the shoe’s 40th anniversary but also including this summer’s Air Jordan 3 “True Blue,” as well as the upcoming Air Jordan 3 “White Cement,” Air Jordan 8 “Chrome” and Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam.”
The Air Jordan 4 “Bred” will release Nov. 27, aka “Black Friday,” through the Snkrs app and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $230.
