Nike Kobe 3 Protro ‘Halo’ 2025 Release Date Details HM4351-100

On Aug. 23, Nike will release the third “Halo” tribute sneaker for Kobe Bryant in celebration of what would have been the late basketball legend’s 47th birthday.

After applying the angelic all-white theme to the Kobe 8 and Kobe 9 models in 2023 and 2024, respectively, this year will highlight the Nike Kobe 3 Protro. The upcoming release is the first Protro version of Bryant’s third signature sneaker to be released and like previous Halo reissues, covers the model in an entirely white colorway. 

It wouldn’t be a proper Protro version without some upgrades from the original Kobe 3, which was first released in 2007. The upcoming Protro reissue features an updated mesh material which is said to be more breathable. Its midsole is equipped with a full-length Zoom Strobel unit encased in Nike’s Cushlon 3.0 foam for improved cushioning and responsiveness on the court. And at the bottom, the rubber outsole’s traction pattern has been enhanced with added blades.

The Protro concept was introduced prior to Bryant’s untimely passing. A portmanteau of the words “performance” and “retro,” the line was intended to update Bryant’s classic sneakers with modern technologies without changing the overall look. 

“[Kobe] was always trying to figure out what he could do to be that one percent better than everybody else and have that competitive advantage,” Bronson Yim, a former Kobe footwear product manager at Nike who now works in Jordan basketball marketing, said in a press release. “So when it comes to our shoes, we want to make sure that we’re replicating that and honoring that and that change.”

While the Halo will be the first Nike Kobe 3 Protro to release, fans can expect much more from the model throughout the remainder of 2025 and into 2026.

The Nike Kobe 3 Protro Halo will be released on Bryant’s birthday, Aug. 23, for a retail price of $210 in adult sizing and a style code of HM4351-100. The pair will also be available in smaller grade school size options.
